Are there any special Spanish Regulations regarding Scuba Diving?
Yes there are. However, as Spain consists of a number of Automous Regions, all of which have their own local regulations it is difficult
to generalise. The main local Murcian scuba diving regulations relate to:
Minimum age
You should be over 16 years of age to engage in scuba diving activities in Spain. This mainly applies to diving in the Sea.
Medical
Local law also states divers should have a diving medical every 2 years. It is advisable that you have proof of fitness to dive. This applies, whether you book on a certification course or on a diving trip. If you enrol on a scuba diving course you will be required to complete the PADI medical statement.
Insurance
Last but not least, you must have your own personal diving insurance which covers you for accidents while scuba diving. This applies to both training and guided dives. If you have your own travel insurance then please bring it with you as the dive operator is required to check to see that it covers you for scuba diving. If you do not have scuba diving cover within your travel insurance do not worry as this can be arranged for you.
